According to the Daily Camera, a black bear was killed after it broke into a home in Boulder County, Colo. The 120-pound bear was found in the family’s kitchen early Monday, leaving Paul Fischer with no choice but to fire birdshots and a rubber bullet, in an attempt to help disorient the bear so the family could escape. When the Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they found the “bear trying to claw his way through a screen door,” so Sgt. Lance Enholm fired five shots from his handgun and two from another rifle. The bear died “after three rounds from [the] shotgun.
